The CPSG Community Garden is one of the disused original bowling greens. We took over the garden in early 2021. The bowling green was overgrown, had been used for anti-social behaviour and was covered in rubbish. Since then a number of volunteers have created a garden for the community to enjoy.

We have set up a weekly volunteer slot where people can come and help with the garden or just come in and have a chat and enjoy the surroundings. This small group of dedicated volunteers give up their time every week to maintain and develop the garden.

Since we started the garden we have improved security around the bowling greens and garden, have planted a small orchard, created flower beds, a central rose bed and a wildflower area, installed benches, a willow dome and beds for growing herbs, soft fruit and vegetables.

We have refurbished the former bowling pavilion which is used as a sheltered space for courses or just somewhere to sit and enjoy the garden. We have four wheelchair friendly raised beds which have been used by charity groups and a sensory bed which has been created by an autistic young man and his mother. Most of the tools, materials, seeds and plants have been provided by the volunteers and from donations from organisations that we have fostered links with.
